No Vacancy !!

Following the retirement of the Rev. Margaret Garden in June last year we are on an exciting journey to find our next minister who will walk with us and build on the wonderful work Margaret has done over the past 10 years.
The nominating committee is working hard to ensure that the right minister for us, finds us. Our parish is rural and as well as being respectful of our tradition we have a very modern outlook: it is this connecting of our history and our future that is important to us.

Cushnie & Tough Church are delighted to appoint Rev. Rosemary Legge as our minister. After over 18 months of planing, committee meetings, interviews and of course prayer, the Nomination Committee selected Rev Legge as the sole nominee and was duly elected by a majority of over 95% of the congregation.
Below and right are some of the ways in which we advertised the post.

These ministerial reflections have not been edited, airbrushed or coaxed in any way although some custard creams have changed hands in the past.

I ministered at Cushnie and Tough from 1992 to 1999. The congregation had a much longer title then - Leochel Cushnie and Lynturk linked with Tough, and then there were three church buildings. As I had not been in a rural parish before, it took some adjusting, but the parishioners made us feel very welcome and colleagues in presbytery were so supportive. The Sunday School and Woman’s Guild were revived and bell– ringing was started as well as all the other aspects of ministry.
The setting was wonderful, with the changing seasons putting on a fantastic display. The meeting of the world-wide Aberdeen Angus society for a service in Tough church was a memorable occasion.
One personal thrill for me was to discover that my grandmother and her sisters had all been baptised in Tough church and the family had farmed in the parish for at least two generations.
Though retired, I still love to worship in the parish and meet friends, and am always made to feel welcome.

I like your vision statement in your ad for a minister. You want to be there for everyone in God's all embracing love. You emphasize your welcome in a traditional church that can ever become more vibrant and well-attended. I especially like you wanting to be a first resort in the parish helping people to find God's strength and direction for living and the support of the Christian family.
I think that all of the above was part of our journey in faith together. As a congregation, you express Christian warmth, love, care, vision and enthusiasm in your worship and service. You use your many and varied gifts and abilities freely and happily in God's service. You have concern to relate appropriately with Christian care to all age groups and to reach out in the community.
The local schools are very open to involvement from the minister in chaplaincy, assemblies and class room work. You seek to communicate together with honesty, value and respect and to work through differences. This was especially relevant to the Kirk Session.
I was greatly privileged to share these 9 years of faith journey with you. As you know, I thank God that they were among the happiest and most fulfilling of my life.
My prayers are with you day by day that you are led by God to your new minister , with gifts and abilities different and probably way beyond mine, that together with him/her you will continue to be His people in Cushnie and Tough, in the hub of the rural wheel.
